Three earthquakes jolt Taiwan early Wednesday

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Taitung city in southeastern Taiwan at 2:27 a.m. on Wednesday, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.

    The epicenter was located at 22.6 degrees north latitude and 121.0 degrees east longitude, the center said.

    No casualties had been reported as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, according to local media.

    Jinmen County in the Taiwan Straits, southeast of Fujian Province, also reported two earthquakes on Wednesday at 5:27 a.m. and 8:04 a.m. measuring 3.5 and 3.6 on the Richter scale, respectively.

    No reports of deaths or damage were yet available.
